Two lawsuits have been filed in DuPage County against a Waubonsie Valley High School student who is accused of striking two pedestrians during a driver's education class last year, according to the Daily Herald.
Police said the Naperville teen, who was 15 years old at the time of the accident, had just made a right turn when she "kept pressing on the gas pedal instead of the brake," jumped a curb, hit a parking sign and hit the two pedestrian, according to the Chicago Tribune.
One of the pedestrians, a Plano woman, was pushing a child in a stroller at the time and was able to push the child in the stroller out of the way, the Chicago Tribune reports.
The Plano woman filed her lawsuit against the driver's education instructor and the student while the other pedestrian who was struck, a Downers Grove woman, filed a lawsuit against the student, father, and Indian Prairie Unit District 204, according to the Daily Herald.
Both women are seeking more than $50,000 in damages.
