Johanna is a mother of three living in Aurora, Illinois, a suburb west of Chicago. She is a restaurant industry professional of 10 years, concentrating in the “Front of the House” as a manager and has a forte for training and development. In college, Johanna attended Columbia College Chicago where she sought out a degree in Magazine Journalism. Her dream of becoming a food writer took a detour when she left her college career choosing to dive feet first in the world of restaurants.

After years of working for corporations like California Pizza Kitchen and the restaurant group, Tavistock Restaurants founded by Joe Lewis, Forbes Magazine’s 500 Richest Men in 2006, she began to feel the tug of war between her family and her career. After becoming pregnant with her third child, she decided to take a leap of faith and leave her career with Tavistock Restaurants and concentrate on her growing family instead. The leave from her career's passions made Johanna feel restless to somehow fuel her love for food and family.

She started a blog under the name Momma Cuisine, and started to write about her recipes and food experiences to any friends and family who took the time to read her posts. Slowly, friends of friends started to take notice of her real love and understanding of food and everyday cooking.

Today, Momma Cuisine has become Johanna’s life’s passion. “Making Great Everyday Meals” is not just a tagline, but a statement to empower moms that feeding the family is more than just plopping food on a plate. It is about making lasting memories that you and your children, and your children’s children, will remember for many years to come.

Making Great Everyday Meals can be done with simple and inexpensive ingredients and the most basic cooking techniques. Anyone can learn how to cook, the goal is to get your loved ones together over a great meal.

Johanna is now starting her new adventure into food writing as a contributing columnist for Trib Local, a website and newspaper by Chicago Tribune. She also writes for her own monthly newsletter where she shares recipes, cooking tips as well as other topics from contributors that are of interest to the modern mom. In addition, she has a prepared meal and catering service to extend her passion and knowledge beyond food writings and workshops. Momma Cuisine Prepared Meal Services is a private chef service where Johanna comes to your home and cooks "great everyday meals" for you and your family. "It's like having the Stouffer convenience of popping food in the oven, but knowing that everything was made from scratch," she tells about her new service.

One of Johanna’s biggest projects is the cooking web show, Momma Cuisine Show on You Tube. There you will find her recipes come to life as well as see more about who Johanna is and her food philosophies.
