Best of Craigslist: Blackhawks Drink Machine; Own Village Greens’ Scoreboard

Check out some of the most interesting posts we were able to find for Naperville, Lisle and Woodridge on Craigslist this past week.

The following items and postings were found on Craigslist for the Naperville, Lisle and Woodridge area. Note: Patch has no control over the status of these posts on Craigslist and how long they remain available. Dispense yourself some appropriately ice-cold drinks from this Blackhawks-themed vending machine, with slots for four different beverages (bottles or cans,) plus additional storage in the stand in the back. All the satisfaction of a vending machine, without that pesky part where you have to pay for it (or, at least, you collect your own payment later.) Going for $450 out of Woodridge. I golf at Village Greens a fair bit, and I can attest that the ad space on the club’s scoreboard is highly prominent. Now, for just $20,000, you can …

Your Take: Local Police—What Do You Appreciate?

It's Police Week in the United States; in that spirit, we asked our local readers in DuPage County what they appreciate most about their local force.

Did you know that this week—May 13-20—is officially Police Week in the United States? According to PoliceWeek.org:  In 1962, President John F. Kennedy signed a proclamation which designated May 15th as Peace Officers Memorial Day and the week in which that date falls as Police Week. Currently, tens of thousands of law enforcement officers from around the world converge on Washington, DC to participate in a number of planned events which honor those that have paid the ultimate sacrifice. In the spirit of the week, we reached out to our DuPage County readers on Facebook and asked what they appreciate most about their local police departments. Here’s some of what readers shared with us:  Carol Gog: “Back in the nineties, I locked my keys in …

Best of Craigslist: Literal Ball and Chain; Hiring Pro Pooper-Scoopers

Check out some of the most interesting posts we were able to find for Naperville, Lisle and Woodridge on Craigslist this past week.

The following items and postings were found on Craigslist for the Naperville, Lisle and Woodridge area. Note: Patch has no control over the status of these posts on Craigslist and how long they remain available. Ah, matrimonial bliss! … or is it, really? If perhaps you think your newly-wedded friend is locking in his pick a bit too soon—or if you just want to make him laugh—this $30 fake ball ‘n’ chain from a Naperville seller might be the perfect gift from a best man. It’s just sand-filled plastic, though so probably not recommended for actually locking down prisoners or wandering husbands.  Think your job is a load of, er, dung? How about a career change to a job that is literally loading dung? That’s right, it’s your dream job: …

Embassy Suites Hotel, Conference Center Proposed for North Naperville

A new hotel and conference center is being proposed for an area in north Naperville along Interstate 88.

Naperville Spokeswoman: We'd Take a Cubs Move Offer Seriously

Naperville is at least being name-dropped in the wake of Tom Ricketts' announcement that he'd entertain the notion of moving the Chicago Cubs from Wrigley Field.

At least one City spokeswoman has said that if the Chicago Cubs were to come knocking in Naperville looking for a place to relocate, they would be met with open arms, the Chicago Tribune reports. "[We] would take the Cubs seriosuly," spokeswoman Linda LaCloche told the paper. "We're already a destination point... We'd tell the Cubs you could add yourself to that." The topic of the Cubs' potentially relocating to the suburbs has been floating around mostly as a hypothetical for a while, but gained credence this week when team owner Tom Ricketts suggested the idea of moving the Cubs from Wrigley if he can't secure the multiple upgrades to the field that he wants. Other destinations mentioned in the article include Rosemont and Schaumburg; …

While I'd love for the Cubs to come to Naperville, it's never going to happen. This is Tom Ricketts just trying to put pressure on the rooftop owners.   more ›

Best of Craigslist: Slice of Bulls Floor; Creepy Mannequin Torsos

Check out some of the most interesting posts we were able to find for Naperville, Lisle and Woodridge on Craigslist this past week.

The following items and postings were found on Craigslist for the Naperville, Lisle and Woodridge area. Note: Patch has no control over the status of these posts on Craigslist and how long they remain available. This authenticated slice of the Chicago Stadium floor was in use from the late 1980’s to the early 1990’s, which means, yes, this was the regular stomping ground of His Airness himself, likely the very floor where the 1992 championship was won in Game 6! For that kind of memorabilia, $350 to this Lisle seller may well be a deal. Okay, I realize that “creepy” is a judgment call on my part, but the “natural, dark wheat-colored toasty finish” on these disembodied torsos just makes them look to me like they’re being filmed through a …

The Freedom Plaza development would sit on 13.2 acres of vacant land on Arbiter Court, west of the Freedom Commons shopping center between I-88 and Diehl Road, and include a 168-room Embassy Suites hotel, restaurants and a conference center. Four free-standing restaurants would be located on the property and a fifth restaurant would be inside the hotel. Well folks, this is the "Naperville Patch." Lisle is a much smaller city, in fact it is just a Village. We really are not concerned with the hotel market or tax levels in Lisle. And yes, I too would like to see more corporate offices being built and occupied in Naperville. Anything to create more jobs, especially executive level jobs, in Naperville.   more ›
