Naperville Police Department Continues to Lead State in DUI Arrests

For the second year in a row, the Naperville Police Department ranked No. 2 in the state for its amount of DUI arrests.

Naperville continues to be a top-ranking community when it comes to arrests for driving under the influence, though the number of arrests made in 2011 declined slightly from the previous year. A survey released Tuesday ranked the Naperville Police Department No. 2 in the state for arrests of impaired drivers. Rockford was No. 1 and had the largest number of arrests with 686, according to the survey. For the last 22 years, the Alliance Against Intoxicated Motorists has conducted a survey of Illinois police departments to determine how many DUI arrests were made. Naperville Police Rank No. 2 in DUI Arrests

Department has ranked in Illinois' top three for last five years.

Just as the Naperville Police Department kicks off a late-night crackdown on impaired drivers, a survey ranks the department second in the state for arrests for driving under the influence (DUI). The Alliance Against Intoxicated Motorists (AAIM) released the results of its survey on Tuesday afternoon. Nearly 700 police departments were surveyed for the organization’s 21st annual DUI arrest survey. The Naperville Police Department reported 671 DUI arrests in 2010, ranking it second among the reporting departments, according to the survey. The Rockford Police Department was ranked No. 1 with 727 arrests, although its arrest numbers declined 2.2 percent from the previous year. There are enough ads against Drinking & Driving on TV, in addition, to where alcohol is sold. The ads are paid for by the companies that sell the spirits; no profit there...expense. Everyone has a responsibility and I hope that those officers would stop an impaired driver who might drive on the various back roads in Naperville with little to NO LIGHTING. Go for #1 NPD!
