Naperville Police: Felony Lane Gang Behind Recent Car Burglaries

Police continue to warn residents, particularly women, to take purses with them when leaving vehicles.

Leaving purses and items of value inside cars while parking around town, at parks or day care centers is an invitation to burglars, particularly members of the Felony Lane Gang, the Naperville Police are warning. A series of vehicle break-ins that took place last week and over the weekend are consistent with the pattern of the Felony Lane Gang, the Naperville Police Department said in a news release Tuesday. On April 17, there were three burglaries at a daycare center on Naperville’s south side and on Saturday there were four burglaries at Nike Park, according to Naperville Police. Korre Alton Butler, 24, of the 3100 block of Bromley Lane in Aurora, was arrested at 11:15 p.m. in the 1200 block of East Indian Trail in Aurora, Naperville police said. He was charged with manufacture/delivery-other amount of a Schedule II drug, police said. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail.  Mitchell Joseph Naumann, 27, of the 5800 block of Oakwood Drive in Lisle, was arrested at 2:06 a.m. at the intersection of West Ogden Avenue and Royal Saint George Drive, police said. Police Urge Shoppers to Not Get Scrooged by Car Burglars

Police continue to warn residents about the Felony Lane Gang, which is known to target vehicles driven by women.

As the holidays draw near and shoppers are out hitting the stores, the Naperville Police Department warns that thieves will also be out ready to break into vehicles. The Felony Lane Gang, a smash-and-grab car burglary gang, continues to break into vehicles in Naperville. In September, police issued a warning to residents about the gang. Since then, another seven vehicles have been targeted in Naperville. The gang targets places that it knows women in particular might frequent, according to police. Some of the areas targeted include church parking lots, swim and racquet clubs, park district facilities and fitness centers. Police are asking residents to make sure not to leave purses, wallets or other valuables inside vehicles. If valuables …

Alexander, 38, of the 15000 block of Sunnymere Drive, Plainfield, was arrested at 10:15 a.m. at North Mill Street and Bauer Road on a charge of driving under the influence of alcohol, police said. James McKinley Joiner, 29, of the 2000 block of Sycamore Avenue, Hanover Park, was arrested at 1:07 a.m. in the 600 block of Raymond Drive and West Ogden Avenue on charges of driving without a rear license plate light, driving on a suspended/revoked license and driving without insurance. Tomisue Frick, 37, of the 900 block of East Chicago Avenue in Naperville, was arrested around 12:45 p.m. near the intersection of South Route 59 and Ogden Avenue. She was charged with violating a traffic signal, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance. Carol Sue Jablonsky, 48, of the 2000 block of Fulham Drive in Naperville, was arrested around 7:30 p.m. near the intersection of West 87th Street and South Route 59. Police Look to Residents to Combat Car Break-ins

Naperville police offer tips to help reduce the likelihood of falling victim to vehicle burglars.

Local police are asking residents to be on their guard when it comes to vehicle burglaries because in many cases, break-ins can be prevented. "The Naperville Police Department needs the help of the public in reducing the chances of vehicle burglaries occurring," stated a recent news release issued by the department. "(There are) a few simple guidelines to prevent or reduce the likelihood that your vehicle will become a target of crime …" Since January, there have been almost 450 vehicle burglaries reported in Naperville and nearly 50 of those occurred during September, police said.
