While some people are goal setters during the new year, others opt to avoid the stigma of making resolutions. Many Naperville residents we approached this week said they don't make resolutions. Some even go so far as to say that they haven't even thought about it. It's actually not that uncommon, according to a study by the Journal of Clinical Psychology. It states that 40 to 45 percent of U.S. adults make one or more resolution each year. Among the top resolutions are exercise, quitting smoking and losing weight. Of those who do set a New Year's goal, 75 percent make it past the first week, 71 percent past the second and only 46 percent past six months, according to the study.
