Naperville parents will be watching the clock on Wednesday trying to get their kids on their friends' baseball teams.
On Wednesday at 11:55 a.m., I should be sitting at my computer with code numbers and a credit card at the ready. By 11:58 a.m., I should be logged onto the Naperville Park District’s website with my fingers poised over the keyboard, ready to strike at 12 p.m. sharp. All the drama is over whether I’ll be able to get my 6-year-old son on a summer baseball team with his friends. By 12:05 p.m., give or take a minute or two, the team’s roster will be full. I’ve learned from past experience that if you snooze on sign-up day, you lose. There was the year my internet connection got s-l-o-w right when I was trying to sign up for soccer.
