Council members approved a request filed by Naperville Police Chief Bob Marshall to hire two new police officers during Tuesday night's City Council meeting.
Naperville City Council approved a police department request Tuesday to hire two new police officers for late-night downtown enforcement. Council members unanimously approved the request which will allow the police department to use the new hires as night-time beat officers to help curb violent incidents in the downtown area. The man was found dead with a self-inflicted gunshot wound Friday afternoon in the 3400 block of Lacrosse Lane on the south side of Naperville, according to police.
The man found dead in south Naperville on Friday apparently took his own life, the Naperville Police Department said on Monday morning. The 53-year-old Aurora man was pronounced dead around 1:25 p.m. Friday in the 3400 block of Lacrosse Lane, according to the Will County Coroner's Office. Police responded to the scene around noon Friday after a construction worker discovered the body in a dumpster next to an office building which was undergoing work. "He crawled into a dumpster and shot himself," Naperville Police Sgt. Lou Cammiso said.
