Downtown Naperville Sidewalk Construction Begins Monday

Improvements to sidewalks at Chicago Avenue and Washington Street in downtown Naperville begin today.

From the city of Naperville Sidewalk improvements are scheduled to begin at Chicago Avenue and Washington Street on Monday, Oct. 15, which will result in intermittent lane closures near the intersection during the next few weeks. Improvements will be made to the sidewalk to better accommodate people with disabilities. In addition to work at Chicago Avenue and Washington Street, similar sidewalk improvements will also be taking place at the intersection of Benton Avenue and Washington Street. Lane Closures Expected During City Sewer Repair Project

Traffic delays are expected throughout the month of October as the city of Naperville begins repairing sewer pipe and manholes.

Starting this month, the city of Naperville will be repairing almost 2,000 feet of concrete sanitary sewer pipe and eight manholes that are located in the area of Route 59 and McDowell Road. The work will take place along Route 59 from McDowell Road south to Argyll Lane and along McDowell Road east of Route 59 and continue through mid-October. Ogden Avenue Construction to Continue This Week

Roadwork on Ogden Avenue will continue through the week of Oct. 1, according to the city of Naperville.

The city of Naperville is letting residents and motorists know that the Illinois Department of Transportation will continue patching areas of roadway on Ogden Avenue in Naperville and Lisle through the week of Oct. 1. Work will continue on Ogden Avenue between Jefferson Avenue in Naperville east to the I-355 Tollway in Lisle with most of the work occurring east of Naper Boulevard beginning next week. Crews are working anywhere from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. and are using flaggers in some areas to indicate lane closures. Residents and motorists should expect long delays and are encouraged to seek alternate routes of travel whenever possible.  The city of Naperville is also reminding motorists to stay alert, use caution and abide by all traffic …

Naperville Police, Fire Department Driveway Closed Later This Week

Main driveway to the Naperville police and fire administration buildings will be closed for two days this week.

The main driveway to the Naperville police and fire administration buildings will be closed for two days this week. Access to the buildings at the intersection of Aurora Avenue and Birchwood Drive will be closed Thursday, Sept. 20 and Friday, Sept. 21 to perform maintenance in the parking lot as part of the City’s Municipal Parking Lot Improvement Project. The public driveway that leads to the Fire Department Administration building, 1380 Aurora Ave., and the Police Department, 1350 Aurora Ave., will be closed during the construction. Both buildings will remain open to the public during construction work, but residents will need to access the buildings using alternative entrances. The city of Naperville is reminding residents and motorists that resurfacing on Washington Street from 5th Avenue to School Street is expected to begin Tuesday, Sept. 4. The resurfacing work will result in intermittent lane closures that will reduce traffic to one lane in each direction. Motorists are advised to seek an alternate route to avoid delays along the stretch of road that is slated for completion in mid-October. The city will take necessary steps to minimize any inconvenience to area residents, businesses and motorists. Benton Avenue in Downtown Naperville Closed Next Week

Beginning Aug. 27, a portion of Benton Avenue in downtown Naperville will close for utility work and reopen Thursday, Aug. 30.

Benton Avenue in downtown Naperville is expected to be closed for utility work beginning next week.  The work is scheduled to begin on Monday, Aug. 27 and the closure will effect through traffic between Washington and Main streets for about three days, according to the city of Naperville.  The sidewalk along Benton Avenue will also be closed on and off due to the work. Drivers and pedestrians are encouraged to follow detours that will be posted in the area. To access the Van Buren Parking Deck and Naperville Bank and Trust, local traffic can use Benton Avenue via Main Street.  Both the road and sidewalk are expected to reopen by Thursday, Aug. 30, pending weather and unforeseen circumstances. Loomis Street to Close Near Naperville Metra Station

Detours planned for Loomis Street closure beginning Friday, Aug. 24.

The Loomis Street crossing of the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad will be closed for one week while construction crews perform track maintenance at the crossing. The closure is scheduled to take place beginning at 9 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 24 and ending at 6 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 31, pending weather and unforeseen circumstances. The crossing will be closed to both traffic and pedestrians for the week. While repairs are taking place, the city will also be replacing sidewalks near the crossing. A pedestrian, vehicle and bicycle detour will be posted and can be viewed by visiting the project's website. The 5th Avenue pedestrian underpass will remain open while construction is taking place. 248th Avenue to be Reduced to One Lane Thursday

Resurfacing project will reduce traffic to one lane on 248th Avenue beginning Thursday, according to the city of Naperville.

Fourth Avenue Daily Fee Parking Closes Thursday for Maintenance

City of Naperville will be making improvements to the Fourth Avenue daily fee parking lot beginning July 12.

Submitted by the city of Naperville Full closures of daily fee parking for commuters on the north side of Fourth Avenue between Loomis and Wright streets will be taking place over four days in July to accommodate maintenance that is part of the Municipal Parking Lot Improvement Project. A full closure of the Fourth Avenue parking lot is scheduled for Thursday, July 12 and Friday, July 13. All daily fee commuter spaces in the parking lot will remain closed and will be reopened by Saturday, July 14. Motorists will be able to use the on-street daily fee commuter parking along Fourth Avenue. Washington Street Lane Reductions Begin Monday

Motorists can expect lane reductions on Washington Street from Monday until July 29, limiting access to the DuPage Children's Museum.

Submitted by the city of Naperville  Starting in the early morning hours of Monday, July 9, motorists traveling on Washington Street will experience lane reductions between 5th Avenue and Franklin Avenue due to watermain and electric duct bank work occurring in that area, weather permitting. Work in this area will continue through July 29. During this time, traffic on Washington Street will be reduced to one lane in each direction beginning at 5th Avenue and continuing south to Franklin Avenue. Both northbound and southbound traffic will be shifted to the east side of Washington; the west side of Washington from North Avenue to Spring Avenue will be closed entirely due to the construction work.  Work on this project, which will provide …
