Local High School Athletes Featured on New NCTV17 Sports Show

New weekly sports show highlighting local high school athletes and coaches set to debut this weekend on NCTV17.

"Naperville Sports Weekly Plus" is a monthly, 30-minute interview show featuring extended interviews of local high school athletes and coaches as seen on "Naperville Sports Weekly." The program airs on Sunday, Dec. 16 at 7 p.m.    In December’s episode, host Alex Symonds will talk with Neuqua Valley High School senior swimmer Gia Dalesandro and Benet Academy Athletic Director Gary Goforth. NCTV17 Gives Viewers Chance to Pick Local Sports 'Play of the Month'

With local high school sports season in full swing, NCTV17 viewers can vote for their favorite play of the month for September.

The summer Olympics are now in the rear-view mirror, but the local high school sports season is well underway and Naperville Community Television has teamed up with Continental Motors to bring viewers a new web-based sports competition and an opportunity to vote for their favorite "Play of the Month" at NCTV17.com. Since it began six years ago, Naperville Sports Weekly has been covering the varsity sports from all six Naperville area schools and giving viewers the weekly highlights and scores. During each show the NCTV17 sports team selects one game changing moment as the “Play of the Week.”  So far this month, football, tennis, golf and soccer have been singled out for this honor with players from a variety of the schools providing the …

Spencer was honored by Fair Lady Productions, Inc. as a business woman who has made a difference in the Naperville community through her contribution and commitment to the arts. Kandiss Hernandez, Founder and Executive Director of Fair Lady Productions Inc., the not-for-profit parent company to Kidz Kabaret, designed the Fair Lady Award to acknowledge women deserving recognition for their tireless efforts to support community arts organizations. City Asks Naperville Teens to do the Talking

Officials say a youth perspective is necessary to guide decisions made by Naperville's various boards and commissions. Youth are encouraged to apply to serve through Oct. 7.

Today's teens are tomorrow's board members and when it comes to preparing them, local officials aren't wasting any time. Naperville Mayor George Pradel and the Naperville City Council are inviting high school juniors and seniors to fill positions on several city boards and commissions as part of an annual initiative that began in 2005. The student voice is often crucial in making local decisions, Pradel said, and it's important that teens have a chance to play civic roles where they live. "Naperville is a volunteer community," he said. "… We want to instill that way in young people. We want to give them the opportunity to feel like they're part of their city."
