Naperville District 203 Names Bridges New Superintendent

During Monday's board of education meeting, officials announced Dan Bridges as the district's new superintendent.

Naperville School District 203 announced Dan Bridges as the district's new superintendent during a board of education meeting Monday night, according to a district press release. Since April, Bridges has served as interim superintendent after former superintendent Mark Mitrovich resigned in June. Bridges has agreed to a three-year contract effective immediately, according to the district. District 203 Superintendent Mitrovich Says Farewell to Students, Staff

District 203 Superintendent Mark Mitrovich expressed his thanks to students and staff in a press release issued yesterday before he officially steps down June 30.

After three years as the Naperville School District 203 Superintendent, Mark Mitrovich gave his final farewell address to the district yesterday before he offically resigns Saturday, June 30.  Mitrovich announced his resignation back in March during a District 203 Board of Education meeting. He expressed thanks to students, parents and administrators in a district press release issued yesterday afternoon.  "As the end of June approaches and my time with all of you as Superintendent comes to a close, I wish to take this opportunity to express my sincere appreciation," he said in a press release. Board of Education will vote to appoint Assistant Superintendent for Secondary Education Dan Bridges on April 16.

Naperville School District 203 has announced plans to appoint Assistant Superintendent for Secondary Education Dan Bridges as interim superintendent. Board of Education members are set to vote on whether or not to approve the appointment at the next board meeting on Monday, April 16. Mark Mitrovich announced he will be leaving the district on June 30.

After three years as the Superintendent of Naperville School District 203, Mark Mitrovich announced Monday night he is resigning his position as of June 30. He made the announcement Monday night during a meeting of the District 203 Board of Education. In 2009, Mitrovich took over leadership at the school district and was signed to a three-year contract, according to District 203. Hundreds Turn Out As District 203 Board Discusses Redistricting

The District 203 Board of Education approved the Enrollment Capacity Study committee's recommendation to take more time to develop a proper solution to the over- and under-crowding issues.

More than 500 parents and concerned community members filled the Naperville Central High School auditorium Monday night as Naperville School District 203 Superintendent Mark Mitrovich and the district’s Enrollment Capacity Study committee asked the board of education for more time to make decisions on enrollment and school redistricting. The district had hired RSP Consultants to collect information about the district’s demographics, which showed a downward trend in enrollment over the next five years. Superintendent Mark Mitrovich will recommend that the school board vote to allow for more time to make long-term decisions.

After outcry from parents, Naperville School District 203 has decided to seek to postpone further redistricting discussions until more community members can be involved and further options are reviewed. Any changes would not be implemented at the district until 2013-14 at the earliest. District 203 Superintendent Mark Mitrovich made the announcement Wednesday night during a meeting of the Enrollment Capacity Study Group held at the district’s administrative building. Officials said they will take measures to ensure the district is communicating effectively and being transparent with community members.

Officials from Naperville School District 203 admitted Monday night that they made missteps when communicating to families in the district information gathered in a review process. District 203 Superintendent Mark Mitrovich made a statement before the board of education’s meeting on Monday night. The statement was e-mailed to members of the District 203 community late Monday night.
