PHOTOS: Santa, Naperville Fire Department Make Surprise Visits to Schools

After holding a first annual Toys for Tots drive this month, Naperville Fire Department and BlackFinn American Saloon paid a visit to children to spread some holiday cheer.

Some Naperville children received a special surprise visit from Santa and Naperville firefighters on Friday, just a few days before Christmas. After holding its first annual Toys for Tots drive this month, Naperville Professional Firefighters Local 4302 spread holiday cheer by dropping off the collected gifts throughout Naperville to children in need. Firefighters picked up Mayor George Pradel, dressed as Saint Nick, at the Naperville Municipal Center before embarking on their jolly journey to Washington Junior High, Santa House, Ann Reid Early Childhood Center as well as the Naperville Township Building. Wanna Get a Call from Santa? Try the Park District's Ho, Ho, Hotline

Santa Claus himself will be making phone calls to Naperville families this holiday season, but register now as space is limited.

Ever wonder what it would be like to get a phone call from Santa Claus?  Get news in your inbox. Sign up for the Patch newsletter. Like Naperville Patch on Facebook. Well, you're in luck because the Naperville Park District is now registering families in Naperville to receive a special call from Jolly Old Saint Nick himself. Since Santa is such a busy guy this time of year, he can only call a maximum of 200 families, so make sure to tell mom and dad to register between now and Dec. 9 through the Naperville Park District's website.  Santa will call on Wednesday, Dec. 12, between the hours of 6:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.  For more information, visit http://www.napervilleparks.org/santashotline.

Naperville Park District Holding Holiday Lights Recycling Program

Third annual holiday lights recycling program begins Monday, Nov. 19.

As many residents and businesses begin assembling lights and decorations for the holidays, the Naperville Park District has announced its third annual holiday lights recycling program in partnership with Elgin Recycling, beginning Nov. 19 and ending Feb. 15, 2013. Rather than tossing old, nonworking lights in the trash, the Naperville Park District is inviting the community to recycle the lights in three locations throughout the district. Aurelio's Pizza Helping Feed the Hungry for the Holidays

Four area Aurelio's locations in Naperville, Villa Park and Woodridge are helping collect food and monetary donations to help the Loaves & Fishes pantry overcome a budget shortfall.
