Naperville Under Heat Advisory; Pollution Action Day Declared

Residents are cautioned to limit time outdoors as temperatures could rise to 105 degrees Thursday.

A heat advisory is in effect for DuPage and Will counties from noon to 8 p.m. Thursday and an air pollution action day was declared. The National Weather Service is predicting temperatures in Naperville Thursday could reach between 100 to 105 degrees, with heat indexes of 105 to 110 degrees. Prolonged exposure to the heat can be dangerous and lead to sunstroke, heat cramps and heat exhaustion, according to the National Weather Service. A heat advisory means high heat and humidity combine to create a situation where heat illnesses are likely.  Children and pets should not be left unattended in vehicles for any length of time because the heat can turn lethal inside vehicles, according to the National Weather Service.  Adults and children …

Heat Advisory In Effect

Thunderstorms are forecasted to move into the area later tonight.

The heat is back in town. The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory that is in effect until 8 p.m. Tuesday. A heat index of 103 to 109 is expected and the National Weather Service cautions people who work or who are doing strenuous activity outside to drink extra water and pay attention to the signs of heat exhaustion. A heat advisory means that a period of intense heat is expected, according to the National Weather Service. The heat and high humidity combine to make heat-related illnesses more likely. With heat indices expected to reach 110 degrees, take care to protect not only people but pets too.

Wednesday the temperatures are going to be oppressive. The experts all say it’s best to stay cool and indoors when possible and the same goes for pets. The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory, which goes into effect Wednesday at 7 a.m. and continues until 4 a.m. Friday. The heat coupled with the humidity will create a heat index of 105 to 110 degrees. “This extreme heat and humidity can pose health risks for people, but it’s also a dangerous time for our pets,” said Adam Goldfarb, director of the Pets at Risk program for The Humane Society of the United States(HSUS), in a news release. Extreme Heat Requires Extreme Caution

High temperatures and humidity are expected to make it feel like 105 degrees Friday. Residents should take precautions to avoid medical emergencies.

Extreme heat is expected to hit Friday and the National Weather Service is predicting temperatures in Naperville will be in the upper 90s. Coupled with humidity it could feel like 105 degrees. A heat advisory will be in effect from noon until midnight on Friday, according to the National Weather Service. Residents are urged to take caution. The heat and humidity could create oppressive conditions that may lead to health problems. From infants to adults, everyone, including pets, is at risk in such weather, according to the National Weather Service.
