'American Idol' Sends Naperville Resident, Benet Student to Hollywood

After auditioning in Chicago, Benet Academy junior Alex Oechsel makes it to the next round in Fox's 'American Idol.'

We think not because Naperville resident and Benet Academy junior Alex Oechsel just sealed a trip to Hollywood for Fox's American Idol.  Get news in your inbox. Sign up for the Patch newsletter. Like Naperville Patch on Facebook. Oechsel made it to the next round after American Idol's season 12 auditions in Chicago. The American Idol premiere continues tonight on Fox at 7 p.m. Oechsel is no stranger to the stage as she's performed in numerous productions at North Central College and Benet Academy. Last summer, Oechsel was one of two girls cast as Dorothy in North Central College's production of "The Wizard of Oz". Along with her sister, Taylor, Oechsel also performed in "Annie" in 2011 …

Waubonsie Grad Makes it on 'American Idol'

A 2008 graduate of Waubonsie Valley High School will be auditioning on the show tonight, and word is she makes it to Hollywood.

Waubonsie Valley High School will be represented when  American Idol hits the airwaves. Ta-Tynisia “Tee” Wilson, a 2008 graduate of the high school was expected to be on tonight as the show continues its season premiere. Rudy Keller, an associate principal at Waubonsie, confirmed that Wilson will be appearing on Idol and said everyone is abuzz at the school anticipating Wilson’s audition performance. “It’s wonderful recognition for the school and our Warriors but it also shows that Tee had a great talent recognized by her music teacher here Mark Myers,” Keller said. “And, a lot of the staff and students that knew her knew that she had an opportunity to excel in the world of music.” American Idol airs at 7 p.m. on Fox and this season …
