Election 2011: District 203 Incumbents Retain Seats; District 204 Adds New Members

Jaensch, Fielden, S. Price win in Naperville; Bradshaw, L. Price, Rising elected for Indian Prairie.

The celebration was under way at Front Street Cantina as the three incumbents in the race for Naperville School District 203 Board of Education were celebrating retaining their seats for four more years. Voters have re-elected Mike Jaensch, Terry Fielden and Suzyn Price to another terms on the board of education. Price has the most experience of any of the members and will be serving her third term on the board. Meanwhile, Indian Prairie School District 204 will have two new members on its board. Curt Bradshaw, an incumbent retained his seat, but current member Alka Tyle did not. Voters elected Lori Price and Mark Rising to fill the seats on the board. Election 2011: Early Voting Turnout Low

Though the numbers were low, Naperville had the largest turnout among DuPage County communities.

The early voting numbers are in and based on the reports from both DuPage and Will counties it seems a lot of Naperville residents have put off voting until Tuesday. Either that, or voters are less than interested in the consolidated election. Though the number of people from Naperville participating in early voting was low, in DuPage County, Naperville was the community with the highest turnout, said Doreen Nelson, assistant executive director for the DuPage County Election Commission. Overall, the total number of Naperville residents who voted early was 1,216, Nelson said. In 2009, the number of residents who voted early at the municipal center alone was 1,060. Election 2011: Do You Know Where to Go?

One last day for Early Voting. The election is next Tuesday. Here is some helpful information to make sure you are ready to cast your ballot.

Today is your last chance to vote early before the consolidated election, which is only days away on Tuesday, April 5. If you aren’t voting early, you will need to join everyone else who has put it off and get to the polls on Tuesday. But, do you know where to go? Most voters should have received a notice in the mail providing the polling place for the election. If you haven’t received notice in the mail yet and you aren’t sure where to go, or you just want to be sure the location hasn’t changed, here are links to find out your polling place and a sample ballot. Voter Registration Deadline Looming; Early Voting on the Way

Those who need to register to vote in the April 5 election have until March 8. And, early voting begins on March 14.

If you are planning to vote in the city of Naperville’s April 5 consolidated election and are not registered vote, time is running out. The last day to register to vote is March 8. After that registration will be closed from March 9 – April 6, according to the city of Naperville. Registering to vote is required if you’ve moved within the county or changed your name. So, if you are new to DuPage County or you recently changed your name, either through a legal name change or marriage, you will need to register. To register, two pieces of identification are needed one of which must be a photo ID and the other must include your current address. Those who prefer to vote early can do so starting on March 14.
