Man Charged With Felony After Phone Threats to State Rep. Jeanne Ives

A Chicago man has been charged with threatening a public official, a Class 3 felony, after authorities said he made two threatening calls to the office of 42nd District State Rep. Jeanne Ives.

Stephen S. Bona, 49, of 903 W. Roscoe in Chicago, has been charged with a felony in connection with making threatening phone calls to Illinois 42nd District State Rep. Jeanne Ives, officials said Tuesday. The DuPage County State's Attorney's Office said Bona was originally charged with misdemeanor disorderly conduct after leaving a threatening message at Ives' office Friday morning. Naperville Man Charged in Theft of More than $200,000 From Employer

The DuPage County State's Attorney's Office said Inam Rahim, 58, of the 1700 block of Conan Doyle Road, was charged with a Class 1 Felony for stealing from his employer, the Islamic Foundation of Villa Park.

A Naperville man has been charged with stealing more than $210,000 from his employer over a two-year period, the DuPage County State’s Attorney Office announced Monday. Inam Rahim, 58, of the 1700 block of Conan Doyle Road, was charged with one count of theft of more than $100,000, a Class 1 Felony, which is punishable by up to four to 15 years in prison, DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin said.  Rahim has worked for the Islamic Foundation in Villa Park for 12 years and for six of those years he has been the director of business and finance for the foundation. Grand Jury Indicts Naperville Man on 7 Counts of First-Degree Murder

Daniel Olaska was indicted Thursday on 14 counts, including seven counts of first-degree murder, in the Feb. 4 bar stabbing that killed 24-year-old Shaun Wild and injured Lemont native Willie Hayes.

A Grand Jury has issued a 14-count indictment of Daniel Olaska, the DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert B. Berlin announced Thursday afternoon.  Olaska is being held without bond in the stabbing death of Shaun Wild, a Naperville elementary school teacher. The incident took place early in the morning Feb. 4 at Frankie’s Blue Room when Olaska stabbed Wild, North Central football player and Lemont native Willie Hayes, and a bar bouncer. Naperville Woman Charged with Felony After Attempted Puppy Theft

Officials said Susan Sullivan tried to leave Happiness Is Pets with a dog hidden under her coat.

A Naperville woman who officials say attempted to hide a puggle dog under her coat as she left the Happiness Is Pets store has been charged with felony retail theft. The DuPage County State’s Attorney Office said Susan Sullivan, 50, of the first block of Testa Drive, is accused of trying to steal the 9-week-old poodle-pug mixed-breed dog Monday night from the store at 1592 E. Ogden Ave. Sullivan placed the dog under her coat and tried to leave the store when employees stopped her and called the Naperville Police Department, DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin said in a news release.  Judge Elizabeth Sexton set bond Tuesday morning at $20,000 with 10 percent to apply in the theft, according to the State’s Attorney's Office. …

DuPage County Rolls Out 'No Refusal' Weekend Over Labor Day

Drivers who refuse breath tests will be compelled to give blood test.

DuPage County law enforcement will run its first-ever "No Refusal" weekend over the Labor Day holiday, officials announced today. During a "No Refusal" weekend, motorists stopped on suspicion of drunken driving are asked to submit to a breath test. If they refuse, a search warrant will immediately be sought by police and prosecutors to obtain a blood sample from the driver. A licensed phlebotomist will be on hand to draw the arrestee’s blood for DUI testing following the issuance of a search warrant. State's Attorney Robert Berlin and Sheriff John Zaruba are rolling out "No Refusal" as a way to combat a growing number of drivers who decline to submit to a breath test after a DUI arrest. Jury Selection Under Way for Man Accused of Killing WVHS Student in 2004

A Matteson man soon will be facing his second trial for the east Aurora murder of a 16-year-old girl.

Jury selection is under way at the DuPage County Courthouse for an east Aurora death penalty case that stemmed from the 2004 murder of a Waubonsie Valley High School teen. "Selection has begun," said Paul Darrah, communication manager for the DuPage County State's Attorney's Office, who added that the process started on Tuesday. "We anticipate that it will take up the remainder of this week and likely next week as well." The case involves Laurence Lovejoy, 44, of Matteson, who is awaiting trial for the second time for the murder of Erin Justice, 16, who was his stepdaughter, according to court documents. Judge Sets Date for $6 Million Mortgage Scheme Trial

A Naperville woman suspected of funneling more than $6 million from clients into personal accounts appeared in court Thursday for a status hearing.

The trial of a Naperville woman accused of collaborating on a $6 million mortgage fraud scheme will begin Jan. 18, DuPage County Circuit Judge John Kinsella announced Thursday at a status hearing. Patricia Johnson, 56, of the 100 block of Elmwood Drive in Naperville, and Pamela Williams, 57, of the 7500 block of Grant Street were indicted Oct. 12 on 55 counts related to theft charges, according to the DuPage County State's Attorney's Office. The charges range from theft of more than $300 to theft of more than $500,000. Both women pleaded not guilty to the indictment. The pair allegedly orchestrated the fraud scheme through PLM Title Company in Wheaton. Williams owned the company and Johnson was a silent partner. An investigation into …
