Millennium Carillon Bell to Toll in Remembrance of Sandy Hook Victims

Naperville Millennium Carillon's “Big Joe” bell – the largest bell of the 72 housed in Moser Tower – will toll 26 times on Friday, Dec. 21 at 8:30 a.m. in remembrance of Sandy Hook victims. The event will coincide with the “Day of Mourning” proclaimed by Connecticut Gov. Dannel Malloy, which will begin with a moment of silence at 9:30 a.m. EST. I'm confused. You start by saying, "As the nation continues to mourn ...Naperville will honor and remember each life lost on Friday," followed by "...will toll 26 times on Friday, Dec. 21 at 8:30 a.m. in remembrance of Sandy Hook victims." So the bells were tolled only for the the victims and not for everyone who lost their life that day. I'm going out on a short limb here and say that everyone …   more ›
