After four years AKA Foxy finally gets its shot to rock festival. Show will be band's last major performance before college.
For three years AKA Foxycompeted in the Naperville Park District’s battle of the bands but to no avail. The battle came to end on Friday. For the past four years AKA Foxy has participated in the Naperville Park District’s battle of the bands. After missing the top spot in the first three attempts, including a second-place finish in 2010, AKA Foxy won the top honors as seniors in May. As winners the trio earned the opening slot of Ribfest 2011. “I just remember when we won the battle of the bands it was like, 'Oh shoot, we’re going to play Ribfest,'” bassist Dominic Glimco said…

When weather is right, locals take advantage of what the city has to offer.
The weekend provided the spring temperatures and good weather that has been lacking for most of May. Locals took advantage of the great weather, making the rounds along Naperville's Crown Jewel, the Riverwalk.

Here’s hoping your weekend goes just the way you planned. So, what do you have you planned? We have a few ideas for you. If you have an event you think deserves a mention, be sure to register and submit it right here on Naperville Patch. Or, e-mail Local Editor Mary Ann Lopez at maryl@patch.com. The Oswego East High School Battle of the Bands show Saturday showcased 10 bands in all, two from District 204—Bonito Evo! of Neuqua Valley High School, and Emoticon from Metea Valley High School. Emoticon took third place on the night and won a five-hour recording session at Gremlen Recording Studio in Chicago. Each band submitted a demo recording and printed lyrics to get into the show. Entry was free, but each band had to earn their way on stage by selling 30 tickets for the show. Each band played a 10-minute set, which was scored by judges.
