Pedestrian Killed Friday in Metra Accident
Trains were running again after the incident, which occurred at about 5:23 p.m.
Updated Oct. 2, 9 a.m. A man was struck and killed Friday as a Metra train was making its way into the Naperville station. The accident occurred at about 5:23 p.m. just east of the Naperville station, said Meg Reile, a spokesperson for Metra. A man who was about 500 feet east of the Loomis Street pedestrian crossing walked in front of the approaching westbound train, according to a news release from the Naperville Police Department issued at 7:26 p.m. The train was unable to stop and struck the man. The DuPage County Coroner said in a news release that the man was 67 years old and his most recent address was in the 400 block of North Avenue.
