Pedestrian Killed Friday in Metra Accident

Trains were running again after the incident, which occurred at about 5:23 p.m.

Updated Oct. 2, 9 a.m. A man was struck and killed Friday as a Metra train was making its way into the Naperville station. The accident occurred at about 5:23 p.m. just east of the Naperville station, said Meg Reile, a spokesperson for Metra. A man who was about 500 feet east of the Loomis Street pedestrian crossing walked in front of the approaching westbound train, according to a news release from the Naperville Police Department issued at 7:26 p.m. The train was unable to stop and struck the man. The DuPage County Coroner said in a news release that the man was 67 years old and his most recent address was in the 400 block of North Avenue. Some outbound trains were allowed to run around the incident, but by about 6:20 the train involved …

Metra Train Kills Man Thursday Night

Police said the man stepped onto the tracks as a train was approaching the station.

A man was killed Thursday night after stepping out in front of a Metra train, Naperville police said. The accident occurred at about 6:21 p.m. at the Naperville Metra train station, according to a news release the Naperville Police Department sent out Thursday night. Police responding to the call were told that the man had stepped onto the track as a Westbound Metra train was approaching the station. The train was unable to stop. The man’s identity is not being released pending identification and notification.
