Summer Baseball Featuring College-age Players Starts in Lisle as Hounds Begin Inaugural Season

June 3 is Patch Day for the new DuPage County Hounds baseball team. Does your young fan want to be a bat boy or girl at a home game at Benedictine University in Lisle? Add a photo to our gallery.

Hey, baseball fans: There's a new wood-bat team in DuPage County, featuring college-age players. The DuPage County Hounds kick off their first season in the Midwest Collegiate League this June. They will play their home games at the Village of Lisle-Benedictine University Sports Complex at Benedictine University in Lisle. The 28-man roster includes local players from Patch towns such as Darien, Downers Grove, Lemont, Lisle and Western Springs. Patch is proud to sponsor Patch Day on Sunday, June 3. Patch readers are invited to redeem four free tickets to the 5 p.m. game against the Rockford Foresters. NCC Roundup: Track Teams Post Season Bests

Both the men's and women's track team had stellar performances over the weekend.

Submitted by North Central College Men’s Track Fresh off a stellar performance in last week's College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin Outdoor Championships, the North Central College men's track and field team continued to step up its efforts on Thursday and Friday, winning three events and posting a series of season-best performances in the Dr. Keeler Invitational at Jay and Dot Buikema Track. The fourth-ranked Cardinals displayed its mastery of the pole vault once again, sweeping the top four spots. Josh Winder, Peter Geraghty and John Wood placed first, second and third, respectively, each clearing 16 feet, 7 1/4 inches, while Frank Wleklinski placed fourth with a career-best clearance of 16'1 1/4". Seven student-athletes from North Central College were named to the Hampshire Honor Society, the highest number ever selected from the college.

North Central College Recalls Service of Alumnus, Trustee Albert Benedetti

Longtime stalwart of North Central College passed away on May 3 at age 88.

Submitted by North Central College North Central College is remembering the service of alumnus and Life Trustee Albert Benedetti of Naperville, a longtime stalwart of the College who passed away on May 3. He was 88. He was president of Bruno Benedetti & Sons, a Naperville home building company. A street in Naperville bears the family name, Benedetti Drive. “Few figures have had more impact on the North Central College physical campus in the past half century than Al, and his role in Naperville over this period … has been equally significant,” said Harold R. NCC Roundup: Track Teams Clean Up, Women's Golf Ends Season with a Win

The men's track and field team set a new school record, the women's team finished at the top of its standings and the women's golf team closed the spring season with a win.

Compiled from news releases submitted by North Central College Men’s Track Facing some of the nation's best competition, the North Central College men's track and field proved equal to the task at the 103rd annual Drake Relays, establishing a new school record and turning in some of this season's top performances throughout the NCAA Division III ranks. The fourth-ranked Cardinals' top finish of the weekend came in the 4-by-200-meter relay, as Jon Caron, Bai Kabba, Dionte Hackler and Jon Howard finished second in 1 minutes, 26.08 seconds to miss the school record in the event by just .02 of a second. The quartet also teamed up in the 4x400 relay, turning in a season-best time of 3:13.16 in Friday's preliminary heats to qualify for Saturday'…

Last Chance: Countdown to Fall Youth Soccer Registration

If you are planning to register the kids for Naperville Youth Soccer, fall online registration begins Wednesday.

Summer isn’t here yet, but time is ticking down to the first day of online registration for the fall youth soccer league.  Naperville residents may begin online registration at noon on Wednesday for Naperville Youth Soccer, while nonresidents must wait until May 7 to begin online registration, according to the Naperville Park District. Online registration for all other summer programs will begin at noon on Thursday. Residents may drop off completed registration forms at the Naperville Park District and they will be processed in the order received, concurrent with online registration, according to the Naperville Park District. Those registering for fall youth soccer must register children based on the grade they will be entering in the fall…

NCC: Women's Lacrosse Team Falls to Augustana

The women's lacrosse team will be traveling to Adrian College in Michigan Saturday where they hope to make up for the loss to Augustana Wednesday night.

Submitted by North Central College An extended first-half scoring rally turned out to be enough to doom the North Central College women's lacrosse team to defeat on Wednesday evening, as the Augustana College Vikings put a damper on the Cardinals' Senior Night festivities by defeating the hosts, 19-7, at Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium. After scoring the game's first goal, the Cardinals (6-8) were held scoreless for more than 20 minutes while Augustana found the net 10 times. The Vikings owned a 11-4 advantage at halftime and led by at least six goals the rest of the way. Augustana (15-3), which owned a 39-21 advantage in shots attempted, was led in scoring by Hilary Kargl's six goals, while Hannah Dickman and Christina Letmanski each scored five…

NCC Men's Track Primed for Drake Relays

North Central College's two-time national champion men's track & field team will be competing at Drake University starting Thursday.

Submitted by North Central College The two-time defending outdoor national champion North Central College men's track & field team will send its largest contingent in program history to Drake Stadium in Des Moines, Iowa on Thursday for the 103rd Drake Relays. Cardinal athletes will compete in seven relay events at the prestigious meet while six athletes will compete as individuals. North Central will field relays in the 4x100-meter, 4x200-meter, 4x400-meter, 4x800-meter, 4x110-meter hurdle shuttle, distance medley and sprint medley events while individuals will compete in the 10,000-meter run and the pole vault from Thursday through Saturday.
