The city is also home to large numbers of volunteers who assist the many nonprofits that make a difference in the lives of residents. Naperville regularly is listed as one of the top places to live and raise a family in the US. City Hall is located along the Riverwalk, one of the city's more scenic areas, where people enjoy spending time walking or relaxing.
Safety Town has its beginnings back in 1976 when then officer, now Mayor, George Pradel approached the Naperville…More Junior Woman's Club to help establish a child safety program. The club continues to provide financial support to Safety Town. The Safety Town Commission was formed in 1993 with the goal of creating a permanent site for Safety Town, located at Aurora Avenue and River Road. Every summer 1,500 children get a hands-on safety experience. Roughly 400 teens volunteer their time at Safety Town, along with members of the Naperville Junior Woman's Club.
Safety town provides an interactive learning environment for children entering kindergarten or first grade. The children go through a weeklong, 90-minute per day program that reinforces the importance of safety and includes visits from the Naperville Police and Fire departments, Naperville Electric, Burlington Northern Railroad and Naperville Animal Control. Children get hands-on experiences learning about safety issues including kitchen safety, fire safety, bike and water safety.
Donations toward the program or endowments are always accepted to help fund the program and maintain the facility.

Every year, the club picks a local organization to support through its Community Improvement Partners. Along with its financial support, the club's members provide hands-on volunteer work for the organizations it supports. Members are always welcome to join the club. The club holds a monthly general meeting at a designated location.
