State Crime Commission Puts Bounty On Heroin Dealers' Heads

The Illinois State Crime Commission is going to test out a new program in DuPage County, which will pay out rewards of $1,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of heroin dealers.

Donald Earl Twaits, 18, of the 3800 block of Brenton Drive in Joliet, was arrested at 6:35 p.m. in the 3200 block of South Route 59, police said. He was charged with illegal possession of alcohol by a minor, driving under the influence of alcohol, possession of drug paraphernalia and illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor.  Jose Joaquin Ramirez, 21, of the 1500 block of Georgia Court, was arrested at 12:26 a.m. in the 900 block of North Washington Street, police said. He was charged with driving on a suspended/revoked license and unauthorized use of handicapped parking. His bond was $1,500 and he was transported to DuPage County jail. Fallen Police Officers Remembered by City, County Departments During Ceremony

Annual memorial to honor those who have died in the line of duty took place yesterday at the Naperville Police Department.

Police officers from around DuPage County joined with the Naperville police force yesterday to honor and remember fallen officers.  Held annually, the Peace Officer Memorial Observance took place this year just outside the main entrance of the Naperville Police Department under a clear blue sky. Officers sat beside the department’s memorial wall and a wreath recognizing the 17 officers who have died in the line of duty in DuPage County over the last 94 years. Along with representatives from neighboring police departments such as Aurora and Wheaton, community members and local officials were in attendance as well to honor the fallen. Oscar R. Solorio-Rodriguez, 33, of the 400 block of Manor Place in Aurora, was arrested at 10:50 a.m. in the 600 block of Spring Avenue, police said. He was charged with disorderly conduct. Frederick Lane Fire Leaves Home Uninhabitable

A resident who lived behind Fire Station No. 8 alerted firefighters to the blaze when she rang the doorbell at the fire station Sunday night.

A woman who rang the doorbell at a Naperville Fire Station at 5:59 p.m. Sunday alerted firefighters to a blaze at her home, which is located behind Fire Station No. 8. Fire crews from the station, located on Modaff Road, arrived at the scene of the fire in the 1300 block of Frederick Lane in less than one minute of being alerted by their neighbor, but the fire caused significant damage, leaving the residence uninhabitable, according to fire officials.   The house fire resulted in more than $150,000 in damage. All of the residents were able to get out safely and nobody was hurt, Naperville Fire Department Deputy Chief Richard Sander said in a news release. Between Monday and Tuesday, someone took an unknown solvent to draw a phallic symbol on a golf course green in the 1600 block of Fairway Drive, killing the grass in the process, police said. Police said someone damaged a sundial located on the corner of Jefferson and Webster Street on Wednesday night, causing $125 in damage.  A 43-year-old man reported his wallet was taken that was in plain view inside his car in the 2100 block of Cherrywood Circle. A GPS and small video camera were left behind, police said.  Police said they received a burglary call to a store in the 1200 block of Ogden Avenue on Wednesday night.
