JanS I think the point is that women shouldn't have to pay themselves, especially considering thatRead More there always seems to be money available for a man to have a vasectomy.

Funny how when you ask most pro-choice advocates to open their wallets right away and contribute toRead More the welfare of these children they suddenly change the subject.
Richard Fischer July 5, 2014 at 02:38 pm
What else can we expect from a Supreme Court majority of old white conservative men? They're simplyRead More unable to understand and empathize with women's needs and issues.

I have 5 kids and with all of their homework, dinner, activities, showers, etc, we find it hard toRead More fit it all in. They have tons of homework and then it's hard to fall asleep immediately afterwards. I definitely think these kids shouldn't be starting school at 7:15 a.m.

Research upon research backs this doctor up. Teens' body clock naturally move later (staying upRead More later and getting up later.) 7:15 start times are foolish and work AGAINST good learning. Elementary school starts at 9:15! It should be the opposite. Little kids pop out of bed bright and early. Teens? Not so much. That's biology.

I agree with the Doctor. Too many kids have extra curricular activities on top of doing homework,Read More eating, showering etc. High school start time is a bit too early for these kids.

We have to make people aware that our State is run by public employee Unions and we need court casesRead More like today which ruled that the California Teacher Tenure rules are unconstitutional so that we can change laws and vote people out of office who do not represent the interests of the public who pay the taxes.

Something that is interesting to note is that high school grads are going to four year universitiesRead More and studying subject that isn't marketable. While on the other hand you have people getting vocational training at vocational schools that essentially guarantees them a job out of school that will make them 'x' amount of money. So it isn't that college degrees are worthless, some are. It is also said that sometimes trade school is the right choice! That's the problem they continue to grow like an out of control cancer not because of need or wantRead More by the community (tax payers) but because they can again at tax payer expense.

Hot liquids are more dangerous than most are aware of. I've only sipped super scalding coffee once,Read More in a hospital waiting room no less. Luckily, I sipped, because all the skin on my lips immediately sloughed off. Luckily again, it was superficial. But those that take a big gulp can end up with abdominal surgery. Before that McD coffee lawsuit over the $10,000 injury the woman suffered, there were 700 complaints about burns. A child I know suffered 3rd degree burns pulling a crock pot over on herself, on 25% of her body, and almost died. Cords around kids are dangerous. http://www.rd.com/culture/hot-coffee-lawsuit/2/
Ed Crotty May 4, 2014 at 03:19 pm
3rd degree burns from either a coffee pot or a crock pot seems pretty unlikely.Read More http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scalding But I am not surprised that a parent would over-react when their child is injured.

Anyone who would take a big gulp of hot coffee straight out of a machine may very well deserve whatRead More they receive. Most people learn about being careful with hot liquids well before they get to the age where they're buying hot coffee.
Neuqua Valley ranked No. 30 in Illinois. file photo.
North Naperville April 24, 2014 at 02:03 pm
Congratulations to Neuqua Valley, Naperville North and Naperville Central! Great job! Your authorsRead More failed to include Metea Valley which actually came in at #29, ahead of Neuqua Valley. Metea Valley, while it is not in Naperville, it does serve Naperville students, thus making your first paragraph inaccurate. Congrats Metea Valley!

This is fantastic news for a great city. Congratulation to the fabulous students of Neuqua Valley,Read More Naperville Central and Naperville North. You students are the ones who earned these honors.

James, this is fantastic news when there are 27 high schools ranked higher than those that serve ourRead More kids? Since when is mediocrity considered great?

I couldn't help but to do some comparison between Stevenson and DHS as a resident in Deerfield,Read More since district has put up the news on the website. Operational spending per student is $16,839 in Stevenson and $20,821 in DHS. STEM ranking, #37 for Stevenson and #145 for DHS. I have been very disappointed in science teaching in DHS. Now I believe that there is some truth in the rankings.

I don't think magnet schools should be included. All the other schools have to take all students inRead More their district, magnet schools can pick and choose best students.

"Virtual walls"? Geezus... GPS spoofing is but one way around the geofence. The otherRead More is simply walking up to someone and saying "HEY *(&*(^^#&*(Y($*() !!!!!" Or use a different app created with a bogus email account... *sigh*. Sticks and stones people... sticks and stones... Walk it off and move on...

my kid tells me that his buddy who lives over in Europe has a math book that shows a drawing of anRead More obese American eating a Cheeseburger with Plumbers Ass , as if we are a bunch of slobs over here!!! Is that nice or what???

How about teaching our kids instead of running socialistic, quasi-mind bending propaganda sessions.Read More Since when is it the purvey of schools to engage is psychological/sociological reeducation of our kids? Between Common Core and this nonsense (not to mention the cost) it's beginning to sound like what all tyrants do, convert/propagandize the kids and you change society. We as citizen don't pay you do either!
tyrone biggums March 26, 2014 at 06:20 am
Speaking of common core being crap, here is the perfect example of why common core should beRead More stopped. http://shine.yahoo.com/healthy-living/common-core-parent-facebook-post-indiana-school-181841158.html Enjoy!!!

When did social-emotional teaching, health of students and “finding balance” become aRead More principal focus of schools? These are better left to the health community and parents. The purpose of schools is to impart the 3 R’s. The more money that is spent on education and the smaller the class sizes become, the poorer our children’s education becomes. Add Common Core and it is easy to see why our children are quickly becoming functional illiterates – no time to teach grammar or cursive writing anymore, or read classical literature. No time for the basics? Just exactly what are the schools doing with all that time?
