This branch of the Veterans of Foreign Wars was founded in 1944 and named for Judd Kendall, a Naperville resident who was captured and killed in France on the eve of the Battle of Cantigny. The VFW is a private club for veterans of foreign wars. Its banquet hall is available for rental to non-members. The members of this VFW support local organizations including Boy Scouts and softball, as well as wider-range programs including Operation Support Our Troops. Along with the American Legion, the VFW sponsors the Memorial Day Parade, one of the largest parades in Northern Illinois. VFW members make monthly visits to the Hines VA Hospital and also help transport patients to local events.
