Steeple Run has a strong business partnership with Benedictine University. Throughout 2010, students from the university participated in family events, assisted with literacy fluency assessments and tutored students in the Study Skills Academy. The school also started a chess club with the help of the Home & School members. More than 100 pupils participated, with some competing in local tournaments, earning a trophy. The club's popularity will allow it to expand.
