Edward Plainfield Harvest 5K Run/Walk & Kidz Miler 2013

Where: Village Green Park, Plainfield

Bike Bald 

Where: North Central College, Naperville 
When: Sunday, Sept. 29 - 1:30 p.m.

Bike Bald is a charity fun ride supporting St. Baldrick’s Foundation starting at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 29 at North Central College. Participants will ride a seven-mile course along the DuPage River Trail and will stop to have their heads shaved in the name of curing childhood cancer. Rockin' Thru the Generations Scholarship Fundraiser

Where: Nevin’s Brewing Company, 12337 S. Route 59, Plainfield
When: Saturday, Sept. 28 - 7 p.m.
$30 in advance; $40 at the door 


Support The Bloom Education Network, a not-for-profit organization providing scholarships for young women, at Nevin’s Brewing Company for a full night of fun, including: Drink specials, hors d’oeuvres, music of the generations, DJ/karaoke couples dance, hula hoop, karaoke and trivia contests. Dress in your favorite generation. Early-bird special is $50 per couple.

Glen Ellyn Bookfest

Downtown Glen Ellyn celebrates Bookfest this weekend when the event kicks-off with Pitchfest at the Glen Ellyn Public Library as authors "pitch" their books to readers in one minute sound bites. The conversation then moves to the author trade show for readers and writers to connect.Book signing events with authors Matthew Cordell and Judith Fradkin will take place during the day at The Bookstore and an Author Luncheon panel is scheduled at the Village Links Clubhouse.
