Whiz Kids: A Well-Spoken Group

Each week Naperville Patch will seek suggestions from readers for individual kids, youth groups, teens and even sports teams that wow us with their accomplishments.

We want to hear about these amazing children and teens and select one each week as the Patch Whiz Kid. This week's nomination does not include just one Whiz Kid, but four. Check 'em out!

○      Whiz Kids' names:Melanie Bussan, Bhavya Pathak, Liron Saletsky, Valarie Lewis.

○      Whiz Kids' ages:  Junior high.

○      Whiz Kids' school: Melanie and Valarie attend Washington Junior High School and Bhavya and Liron attend Kennedy Junior High School.

○      Whiz Kids' accomplishment: Melanie took first place, Bhavya took second place, Liron took third place and Valerie took fourth place in the American Legion Post 43 Junior High School Speech Contest for Naperville Schools.

○      Whiz Kids' Key to Awesomeness (what made him/her successful?): The American Legion Post 43 Junior High School Speech Contest for Naperville schools was held last month in the downtown area. Two students from each school were allowed to compete for four cash prizes after giving a three-to-five minute speech on some aspect of the U.S. Constitution. This contest is structured  similarly the High School Oratorical Contest and is a good way to prepare kids for speech contests at the high school level and beyond. These four really showed some skills during the competition. We applaud them!
