Cuisine for a Cause Raises $135,000 for Those in Need

Roughly 450 people attended the Naperville CARES fundraiser, which was held April 21.

The Naperville CARES 9th annual Cuisine for a Cause was the organization’s most successful event to date, raising $135,000 to benefit needy families in .

The event showcased signature dishes from over 25 Naperville restaurants as well as local wine and beer merchants.  All the proceeds from Cuisine for a Cause go directly to Naperville CARES, a volunteer-driven organization that assists local families in financial crisis meet their basic needs by providing emergency financial support and resources.

Thanks to the 450 guests, as well as the sponsors and donation of food and beverages by area restaurants and merchants, Naperville CARES executive director was happy to report that the funds raised exceeded CARES’ expectations and will enable the organization to expand their current Car Program and accomplish their goals in giving back to the community.

“What a wonderful evening filled with good food, beverages and friendship,” said Derrick, “We want to warmly thank all those who contributed to the success of the annual Cuisine for a Cause. The money will help CARES to provide short-term financial assistance to pay for basic needs like rent, utilities and child care and will help us expand the Naperville CARES Car Program to now include the repair of client owned cars.”

By repairing client owned cars, Naperville CARES will be providing a much needed service in the community and will help individuals to either keep their current job or assist them in finding new employment. 

Karen Garlough, owner of and chairperson of Cuisine for a Cause said she is also happy with the success of the event. 

“One of the highlights of my year is working with the dedicated and talented steering committee that makes Cuisine for a Cause happen,” said Garlough, “They set the bar higher each year and they always exceed my expectations! It is a true joy! The wonderful by-product is a fantastic event.”

Naperville CARES and My Chef Catering are excited to start working together on next year’s event scheduled for April 27, 2013 and look forward to the same enthusiasm from sponsors, auction donors, event attendees and participating restaurants and merchants.
