Why does my hair seem to dry out during the winter?  It is full of static and looks dull and dried out.  I don’t seem to have this problem during the summer, only in the winter.  What can I do to make it look better?

Dear Sarah,

During the summer, our hair loves the humidity.  Once those windows close up and that heat goes on, all bets are off.  Hair can become dry and lifeless, other than the static making the dried out strands stand on end!  Try switching up your shampoo and conditioner to something a bit more moisturizing.  Redken has a great combo called All Soft, which contains avocado oil, making the hair feel amazingly silky.  Once or twice a week try leaving the conditioner on your hair with a warm towel wrapped around it for 20 minutes or so, you’d be surprised what a difference this can make.  Finally, have a glaze put over your hair.  Sometimes hair can become like a dried out sponge, but once you add moisture to it, it comes back to life.  A glaze does not have to add color, though there are many beautiful shades available.  If you don’t want to change the color of your hair, you can ask for a clear glaze to be applied to your hair.  This product seeps into all the places where your hair is lacking moisture.  I promise you, your hair will be transformed.  The cost for something like this can run between 40 to 75 dollars, but is worth every penny when you feel the difference it will make in your hair.  No more winter blahs!  Hope this helps, Sarah.  Please let me know what ends up working for you!
