Street Closures Put in Place for Sunday's Naperville Sprint Triathlon

Sunday's triathlon will bring runners, road closures and parking restrictions to the downtown Naperville area.

The  is reminding residents about upcoming street closures and parking restrictions that will be in effect throughout the Naperville Sprint Triathlon taking place at 7 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 5.

The triathlon starts and ends at near downtown Naperville, with the event consisting of a 400-meter swim, 22-kilometer bike and 5-kilometer run. A color-coded map of the race route, times and locations of street closures, parking restrictions and tow-away zones is available on the city's website.

Street Closures, Parking Restrictions

The triathlon route streets will be closed beginning at approximately 6 a.m. and will remain closed until approximately 11:30 a.m. The race route will be a no parking, tow zone from 5 a.m. to noon on Sunday and notices will be posted accordingly. The streets of the race route are re-opened to vehicle traffic and the no parking, tow zone signs will be removed as soon as the determines it is appropriate based on public safety.

For more information on parking in downtown Naperville, including details on accessible parking locations, visit www.naperville.il.us/downtownparking.aspx. Motorists should expect delays throughout the morning hours in and around the race area and take alternate routes or allow extra time to get to their destination.

More information on the Naperville Sprint Triathlon is available at www.napervilletri.com. For those who are participating in the event, be aware that there is no race day registration or packet pick-up. Packet pick-up is available at the , 34 W. Jefferson Ave., from 12:30 to 7 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 3 and from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sat., August 4.
