Kifowit Responds to Governor’s Budget Address

AURORA, Ill. – Today, state Rep. Stephanie Kifowit, D-Oswego, released the following statement in response to Governor Pat Quinn’s Wednesday budget address:

“One of the most important ways we can create a business friendly environment is by practicing fiscal restraint and creating stability in our state’s finances. A vital part of any budget must eliminate inefficiencies and wasteful spending; we as a state, must strive to do the same. My goal with the upcoming budget is to ensure Illinois continues to attract high quality jobs and be supportive of entrepreneurs, who are the backbone to our economy.

“Any budget passed by the legislature must not exceed our revenue projections that were adopted by the General Assembly, just as last year. I will evaluate the Governor’s budget proposal and keep in mind our brave veterans and seniors, ensuring they receive the care they need.  In addition, middle class taxpayers should be able to keep more of their hard-earned dollars.

“I will continue to hold coffee shop stops and reach out to area families and community leaders to listen to their opinions and suggestions. Together, we can work on passing a careful comprehensive budget that helps those most in need.”
