They can bump, kick and pass with the best of them.

As the 2014 soccer season gets underway, the Chicago Sun-Times has ranked the top 20 area girls' high school soccer teams — as well as individuals — to watch for this spring, according to High School Cube News. Several area soccer players also made the Sun Times' list.

The five area teams made the list including Waubonsie Valley at No. 2, Naperville North at No. 3, Neuqua Valley at No. 5, Naperville Central at No. 11 and Metea Valley at No. 18.

In Naperville North's high rank, the article noted "The two-time defending Class 3A state champion (41-1-4 the last two years) has the state’s top junior in forward Abbie Boswell (27 goals, 10 assists) and a superb keeper with Fiona Baenziger."

Other top teams to make the list include: Buffalo Grove (No. 1), Loyola (No. 6), New Trier (No. 7), Lake Forest (No. 8), and Plainfield North (No. 9).
