Injury Keeps Naperville Native Lysacek Out of 2014 Olympics

Naperville native and Olympic gold medalist Evan Lysacek won't be competing in the 2014 games in Sochi due to injuries, USA Today reports

Lysacek decided last week to drop out of the 2014 Olympics after a series of injuries, "including a torn labrum in his left hip," according to USA Today.

"I am still processing what's going on right now with my health, that devastation will take quite a bit of time to get over mentally and physically," he told USA Today.

The pain and injuries are so severe for Lysacek that doctors said he could risk permanent damage, according to USA Today.

Lysacek is a 2010 Olympic figure skating gold medalist.
