Football: Wheaton North's Peltz, Thorson Key to Victory Over Naperville North

Wheaton North 21, Naperville North 7: The dynamic wide receiver and quarterback duo of John Peltz and Clayton Thorson powered the Falcons to a big victory Friday night in Naperville.

Breaking It Down: John Peltz to Clayton Thorson or Thorson to Peltz, either way, the duo found a way to make it work in Wheaton North's 21-7 football victory over Naperville North on Friday night. Peltz and Thorson flip-flopped between playing quarterback and wide receiver throughout the game, with each finding the other to be his favorite target. Both threw the other a touchdown, with Thorson finding Peltz first in the second quarter and Peltz returning the favor to open the third quarter. The duo's second touchdown made it 14-0 early in the second half.

didn't quit, though, and pulled to within two scores midway through the fourth quarter, before Huskies' quarterback Johnny Brown was stripped at the Falcons' 10, effectively icing the game.

Patch’s MVP: John Peltz, quarterback/wide receiver, Wheaton North. The senior did a little bit of everything for the Falcons, tossing two touchdowns while going 12-of-20 and nabbing a touchdown catch of his own from Thorson to give the Falcons an early 7-0 lead in the second quarter.

Wheaton North Stat Pack: Patrick Sharp rushed for 55 yards on 16 carries, with a touchdown reception as well. Jaylen Howze had a forced fumble and a sack. Thornson finished with 121 yards receiving and one touchdown catch.

Naperville North Stat Pack: Justin Williams had a touchdown catch. Kevin Nalefski blocked a Wheaton North punt to set up a Williams score. Zac Martin had two tackles for loss.
