Celebrating the Fourth

The Forest Preserve District of DuPage County’s Kline Creek Farm will celebrate the Fourth of July at this event.

Attendees should bring a picnic lunch to the event, which will feature a free community celebration of the holiday.

The event will include games and activities, such as a casual baseball game, patriotic crafts and outdoor fun, that were common parts of a 1890s community Independence Day celebration.

Model-hot-air-balloon launches will take place throughout the event.

A Fourth of July ceremony featuring songs, speeches, recitations and a reading of the Declaration of Independence by costumed presenters will take place at 2:30 p.m.

Attendees will also be able to make, and consume, hand-churned ice cream.
