Local Woman Honored for Dedication to Children with Special Needs

Welcoming someone with a huge smile and an amazing “can do” attitude can make all the difference in the world. Longtime Western DuPage Special Recreation Association (WDSRA) part-time staff, Pat Rambo, brings both when working inclusion situations to children with special needs. In recognition, Rambo was recently honored with WDSRA’s Emily Towne Memorial Inclusion Award.

“Pat demonstrates a remarkable sense of devotion to individuals who have special needs and to the inclusion process,” says WDSRA Manager of Inclusion Tammy Kerrins. “She has worked with many different individuals who have varying special needs and has helped to facilitate countless positive experiences. Pat greets each person with a huge smile and encourages each with her amazing “can do” attitude.”

Emily Towne was an exceptional part time summer inclusion staff member whose words and memories have had a profound and lasting impact on the greater WDSRA family. The award acknowledges the ongoing support of an individual or group who:
