Two Local Educators Nominated for Golden Apple Teaching Award

Teachers from Highlands Elementary School and Naper Elementary School acknowledged for excellence in teaching.

The Illinois Golden Apple Foundation has nominated two District 203 teachers for their excellence in teaching.

second-grade teacher Kathy Burns and first-grade teacher Pamela Kay Kelly have been acknowledged by the non-profit organization, which mentors and supports educators in Illinois.

Both teachers are among 32 Illinois Golden Apple Foundation nominees for 2012.

Since 1986, Golden Apple has chosen ten teachers every year that excelled in their field to receive the award.

The Golden Apple Awards will be held on Saturday, April 21 from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Hyatt McCormick Place in Chicago and will also be broadcast on Chicago’s WTTW.
