Sled Dogs Cozy Up to Kids

Huskies pay a call at Spring Brook Elementary School.

Fourth-grade students at learned about the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race from two area residents who mush locally.

Michael and Noel Dagley, brought seven of their huskies to the school to educate students about the race and the dogs. Michael Dagley is president of Adopt a Husky, a Siberian and Alaskan husky rescue group.

The dogs ranged in age from 6 to 14. They waited calmly through a video and question and answer period. Once those were through it was time for the kids to meet the pups up close. Both the students and dogs behaved.
