North Central College has introduced a distinctive new Master of International Business Administration (MIBA) degree. It is the Chicago region’s only such graduate-level program with an explicit focus on international business.

With more than 95 percent of the world’s population living outside the United States, recognizes that employers increasingly need managers who are equipped with international experience and specialized training to take their work to the global marketplace.

The College’s MIBA program prepares managers to make the most of this challenge and opportunity. The program is especially designed for middle-level managers who have aspirations of pursuing international assignments within their companies or who want to advance their careers in government, business or the nonprofit arena.

North Central’s MIBA program meets these needs by incorporating hands-on experiences that include a short-term study abroad course and internship or project, as well as specialized courses. The courses include Globalization and the Manager, International Business Strategy, International Entrepreneurship, International Management, International Finance, International Marketing and an elective course.

Recent North Central College MBA graduate Jonathan Miers focused his graduate classes in international business. Today, he works for GoAbroad.com in its Philippine office. “North Central’s MIBA degree helps students develop the resources they need to work in environments that are dramatically different from what they’re used to,” Miers says. “For me, the biggest adjustment has been dealing with cultural differences. My classes at North Central helped me understand how to adapt to those differences and be well received by the Filipino employees I manage.”

North Central will host an information session about its new MIBA on Monday, April 23 in Smith Hall on the second floor of Old Main, 30 N. Brainard St. Registration begins at 5:45 p.m., followed by opportunities to learn about admission, scholarships and financial aid. Robert Moussetis, associate professor of international business, will present an overview of the program at 6:30 p.m. Contact the Office of Graduate Admission at 630-637-5840 or visit northcentralcollege.edu/admission/international-business-administration to register for the information session and learn more about the degree. Enrollment in the new MIBA program is open with classes starting in fall 2012.
