North Central Athletes Earn Academic All-CCIW Honors

Five North Central College women's lacrosse players qualified during this year's season after receiving a 3.30 GPA or above.

Five women's lacrosse players have been honored with selections to the 2012 Academic All-Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference (MWLC) Team.

To qualify, athletes must have been active members of their women's lacrosse team during the 2012 season with a cumulative grade-point average of 3.30 or above during the year.

This year's Academic All-MWLC list included North Central seniors Amy Frazzini (Orland Park/Sandburg), Caroline Gully (Barrington/Barrington High School) and Alison Musur (Morton Grove/Niles North High School), as well as sophomores Rachael Houp (Inverness/Palatine High School) and Jamie Legner (Mahomet/Mahomet-Seymour).

Frazzini graduated this spring as one of the first four-year letter winners in the history of the Cardinals' program. She scored a total of 98 goals in her career and holds the school single-game scoring record of seven goals, achieved in the 2010 season opener against MWLC rival Albion College.

Gully and Musur both graduated as three-year letter winners and both received All-MWLC honors this season, as Gully made the First Team and Musur was named to the Second Team. Gully scored 89 career goals and holds school career records for ground balls (137) and draw controls (136), while Musur ranks fifth in school history in draw controls (42) and turnovers caused (28).

Houp started 11 of North Central's 16 games and scored 13 goals this past season, while Legner started all 16 games and ranked second on the team with 12 turnovers caused.

The Cardinals finished the 2012 campaign with an overall record of 7-10, including a 5-2 finish in MWLC play which qualified them for the MWLC Tournament for the second straight year.
