Naperville Student Named Benet Academy Valedictorian

Sabrina Lichon was named the 2012 valedictorian at Benet Academy

Benet Academy is proud to announce the Valedictorian and Salutatorian for the Class of 2012. 

Valedictorian

The Valedictorian for the Class of 2012 is Sabrina Lichon of Naperville.  Ms. Lichon completed her four years at Benet with a cumulative, all subject, weighted grade point average of 99.81 percent.

Over the last few years, she has received a variety of honors including recognitions as an Illinois State Scholar, as a member of the National Honor Society, and as a National Merit Commended Scholar.  

She has also received departmental scholarship awards in English, Mathematics, Religion, Science, Spanish, and Social Studies. This is especially impressive given her active participation in a great variety of school activities.

Ms. Lichon has been on the Girls Basketball Team, served as a Peer Minister, participated in Math Team competitions, sang as a member of various choral groups, and promoted the importance of being eco-friendly as president of the Recycling Club during her junior and senior years.

In her spare time she plays piano, writes songs, and has founded and spearheaded two major fundraisers in support of St. Ann’s School in Chicago – Windows for Warmth and Pennies for Plumbing – which have generated a combined total of $45,000 for that school.

Next year she will be commencing her collegiate studies at the University of Notre Dame. 

Salutatorian

The  Salutatorian for the Class of 2012 is Kathleen Krawczyk of Aurora.  Ms. Krawczyk earned a cumulative, all subject, weighted grade point average of 99.73 percent during the course of her 4 years at Benet.

In recognition of her diligence in her academic classes, she has been named a member of the Benet chapter of the National Honor Society, an Illinois State Scholar, an Advanced Placement Scholar, and a National Merit Scholar Finalist.

Moreover, she has received departmental proficiency awards in English, Mathematics, Religion, Science, Spanish, and Social Studies.

Her involvement in co-curricular activities is also noteworthy, for she has been an active participant in a variety of extracurricular  organizations, starting with Mass Choir during her freshman and sophomore years and including the Recycling Club, Outreach, Spanish Club, and Girls Cross Country.

Outside of school she has participated in Girls Scouts, been an altar server, and refereed soccer matches.

Next year she will be commencing her collegiate studies at Purdue University’s School of Engineering.
