Jeremiah Johnson Will Oversee District Building & Grounds

As Gary Rosploch retires, the board gives the nod to an 11-year veteran of the district who has been there since age 19.

The first question that came to mind when talking with Jeremiah Johnson, the newly hired supervisor of building and grounds for the Muskego-Norway School District, was how young he was when he started.

Johnson explained he had been with the district 11 years upon receiving the job, which has been held by Gary Rosploch, who is stepping down at the end of February after 21 years with the district. However, his youthful appearance prompted the question of how old he was when he began.

"I pretty much entered the district shortly after high school at the age of 19, and I was a substitute custodian," Johnson explained.

Johnson said he worked up to a full-time position and became a supervisor for Bay Lane and Country Meadows. In the meantime Johnson earned his certification as a facilities manager with the Wisconsin Association of School Business Officials, and is a member of the Wisconsin School Safety Coordinators Association.

Johnson was approved by the school board Monday night, and will earn an annual salary of $84,800. He will start his new position on March 1.

in reply to Muskego Mom.... MNSD has 7 buildings in the district yet 3 or 4 attend. Why not all 8 or 9 building supervisors? I respect the trades and they provide an excellent living and don't doubt you and him earn every cent. But I have to assume you and your husband work in the private sector and not for a municipality or government entity. My focus was that MNSD appears to pay a premium for hiring from inside when it may be better practice to hold off on the big pay day until that person has met expectations in there new position. Regardless, I do respect your opinions and appreciate haring them.

Agreed. We need a little levity here, so in respect to the new B&G supervisor at MNSD lets join in a chorus of the 3 Dog Night Classic "Jeremiah Was A Bullfrog" !

Denise....why are you defending this hire? Are you not a reporter that should be just reporting the news/facts in an unbias fashion?

MNSD is getting so much flack for this move they were compelled to send out a press release on this person to do damage control. It is possible that MNSD is pressuring people to put a positive spin on a personnel move many people dont agree with.

There is a saying in Texas; "All hat and no cattle" could be applied in this situation.
