Stepping up for the Environment

On Saturday, March 31, 2012 at 8:30 p.m., tens of millions of people in more than 240 cities around the world will come together once again to make a bold statement about their concern for the environment by doing something quite simple turning off their lights for one hour. World Wildlife Fund, Earth Hour symbolizes that by working together, each of us can make a positive impact in preserving our environment.

This year,The Goddard School has the exciting opportunity to be part of Earth Hour. The Goddard School will launch an entire week of activities and lesson plans beginning March 26th. Throughout the week, children and teachers will participate in a variety of fun activities, games and lessons designed to increase their awareness of how energy use and daily activities can affect the future of the planet and how they can conserve energy in their daily lives. The program provides exciting activities for all our age groups. The entire Goddard School will participate!

March 30, 2012 is a big day for Goddard Schools throughout the country. At 10 a.m., the schools will turn off any non-essential lighting for one hour. We invite all parents and other family members to join our school community at 10 a.m. as we parade around the school presenting our recycle red carpet fashion show at 1928 Springbrook Square in Naperville.

This also a great chance to talk about saving energy at home. You can even join others throughout the world in turning off your lights for one hour on Saturday, March 31, 2012 at 8:30 p.m.

This is an exciting opportunity for our school to get creative in "stepping up" awareness about saving energy and the environment.

We look forward to having you join our celebration! Please call our Educational Director, Gail Shelton, or our Operational Director, Valerie Paulsen at 630-355-7199 to RSVP for our Stepping Up For The Environment event!
