North Central College to Host National Math Contests

North Central College will host a testing site for the American Mathematics Competitions test 10 and 12, the premier high school examinations in mathematics.

The AMC 10 will be open to those who haev not yet completed grade 10; the AMC 12 will be open to students who have not yet completed grade 12.

Students can participate in both the A (these tests are offered only at high schools) and B (offered at North Central College) exams.

Home-schooled students and those enrolled in area high schools can take part in the contest.

Each format will consist of a 25-question, 75-minute multiple-choice exam in secondary school mathematics, containing problems that can be understood and solved with pre-calculus concepts.

Top-scorers of the contests will qualify to compete in the American Invitational Mathematics Examination with the possibility of qualifying to compete in the International Mathematics Olympiad.

Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis.
