Gifted High Schoolers Can Earn College Credit Through NCC Program

Gifted area high school-aged students can earn up to two years of college credit through a program offered at North Central College.

Through the Lederman Scholars Program, students take courses with their peers and regular college students. Also once a student completes nine hours, their NCC classes and AP credits are posted to their transcript.

Interested students and their parents can learn more at an open house.

Admission is based on academic ability and applicants should be enrolled in honors coursework and be among the top 5 percent of students in their classes or have a minimum composite ACT score of 30 or a minimum total SAT score of 1350.

The college also offers a Community Scholars Program for students with extraordinary ability in an academic area who don't meet the Lederman program criteria. College credits can be earned during high school in that program as well.
