The event will start at 7 p.m. in the auditorium at Waubonsie Valley High School, 2590 Ogden Ave., in Aurora. The forum is being sponsored by the two employee associations in District 204, including the Indian Prairie Education Association (IPEA) and the Indian Prairie Classified Association (IPCA).

“We’re very pleased to be providing the opportunity for parents, students, community members and staff to get to know the school board candidates and to provide the candidates with a chance to share their views,” said Val Dranias, forum moderator and president of the IPEA in a statement.

The school board election for District 204 is set for April 9. There are nine candidates vying for five open seats. They include incumbents Cathy Piehl and Benjamin White, and candidates Krishna Bansal, Vasavi Chakka, Maria Curry, Sotiria Kapsis, Michael Raczak, and Jazminn Santillan for the four 4-year terms and Justin Karubas for the 2-year term.

The open forum format will provide two minutes for each candidate to make an opening statement, followed by audience participation in an hour-long question and answer period. Candidates will then have one minute each to make closing statements.

Audience members and guests are invited to stay after the formal proceedings and talk with the candidates. Light refreshments will be served.
