Cardinals Honored For Academic Achievement

Recently 70 student-athletes at North Central College were honored for their achievements. Several Naperville area students were among those recognized.

recently released its list of 70 student-athletes who have received Academic All-College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) accolades for the 2012 winter sports season.

To be eligible, an individual must have an overall grade point average of 3.30 or above during their season of competition and must have lettered in their respective sport for that season.

Four athletes from the Naperville Patch coverage area have made the list:

Jake Nurczyk, Men's Swimming (So., Naperville/Plainfield North HS) - Actuarial Science major - Placed fifth in the 400-yard medley relay and sixth in the 200-, 400-, and 800-yard freestyle relays at the CCIW Championships.

Nick Santos, Wrestling (So., Naperville/Naperville Central HS) - Exercise Science major - Posted an overall record of 6-8.  Went 3-6 at 125 pounds and 3-2 at 133 pounds.

Kathleen Fultz, Women's Swimming (So., Naperville/Naperville North HS) - Political Science major - Placed 15th in the 100-yard breaststroke at the CCIW Championships.

Kate Lueders, Women's Track and Field (Sr., Naperville/Naperville North HS) - Biology major - Placed ninth in the 5,000-meter run and 11th in the 3,000-meter run at the CCIW Indoor Championships.
