Be Prepared: Where to Find School Closing Information

While temperatures are starting to drop, Naperville and the Chicago area have been lucky to avoid snow so far.

With winter on the way, parents may want to refresh themselves about school district policies for snow days and late starts. 

On Thursday, District 204 e-mailed its school community reminding parents about where to go for information on school closings.

When school isn’t closed due to weather, but where weather conditions may exist it is up to the parent or guardian to decide whether it is safe enough to send a child to school, according to .

If school is closed due to inclement weather, information will be shared by 6 a.m. Information can be found:

• Posted first on the district's website at www.ipsd.org
• A Connect-ED phone call to parents/guardians
• Local television and radio stations
• Emergency Closing Center's website
• A message on the district's information line at 630-375-3015 (Please do not call your individual school)

At , parents can expect to get a phone call when school is closed or opening late, otherwise classes will be held.

When schools are closed or starting late due to inclement weather or another emergency, such as a broken pipe, information may be found in these locations:

• Late starts and school closings will be posted on the Naperville School District 203 Home Page
• A recorded message regarding closings will be available on the District 203 Administrative Center's main telephone line, 630-420-6300.
• Information is distributed through the Talk203 phone call, text message and e-mail. More information about Talk203
