20 Indian Prairie District 204 Schools Closed Tuesday Due to Heat

Indian Prairie School District 204 administrators announce cancelation of Tuesday classes at 20 district schools.

Due to high temperatures, Indian Prairie School District 204 is canceling classes at 20 schools Tuesday.

District administrators decided to cancel classes in schools without air conditioning as temperatures are expected to reach a high of 94 degrees Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service

The elementary schools where classes will be canceled on Tuesday include: Brookdale, Brooks, Builta, Clow, Cowlishaw, Fry, Georgetown, Gombert, Graham, Kendall, Longwood, McCarty, Patterson, Spring Brook, Steck, Watts, Welch, White Eagle, and Young. Classes have also been canceled at Indian Plains, the district’s alternative high school, according to IPSD204.

All other schools in the district will operate as normal on Tuesday.

The YMCA's Safe n' Sound program in schools without air conditioning has also been canceled for Tuesday, according to IPSD204.

For parents who need a childcare program Tuesday, the YMCA is offering a $40 special program for elementary students from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Y Sports Complex, 31W290 Shoeger Road, Naperville.
