VP of CNN Worldwide/TBS to address 19th Annual MLK Breakfast at Benedictine

Lisle, Illinois ~ Timothy W. Goodly, Ph.D., senior vice president of human resources for CNN Worldwide, Turner Broadcasting System (TBS) Inc., will be the featured speaker at the 19th Annual Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Breakfast hosted by Benedictine University and College of DuPage (COD) on Monday, January 20, 2014.

The breakfast will be held from 8:00-9:30 a.m. on the second floor of the Krasa Student Center at Benedictine University, named the fastest-growing university in the country by The Chronicle of Higher Education.

Based in Atlanta, Ga., Goodly is responsible for the development of human resources policies and procedures for the organization’s domestic entertainment, animation and young adult, news networks and businesses including TBS, TNT, Turner Classic Movies, truTV, Cartoon Network, Boomerang, Adult Swim, CNN/U.S., HLN, CNN International and CNN.com.

He is a frequent presenter on organizational development, workplace diversity and employee-employer matters.

Goodly will present “Invoking the Hero in Each of Us,” followed by breakout sessions centered on the theme of “Living Together” led by William J. Carroll, Ph.D., president of Benedictine University, and Joseph E. Collins, Ph.D., executive vice president at COD.

Goodly joined TBS in 1997 as director of human resources for Turner Sports, and has worked successfully across all divisions in successive assignments and expansions of his responsibilities. He has led strategic personnel efforts, planning and implementing organizational restructuring and redesign efforts, and has served as chief human resources advisor to the company’s top executives.

His 20-year-plus career in human resources and general management includes service at Mobil Corporation, the Pepsi-Cola Company and as an officer in the U.S. Army.

Goodly earned a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, a master’s degree in Business Administration from Tulane University, and a Ph.D. in Organizational Development from Benedictine University at Springfield, where he is a senior executive scholar.

The King Breakfast, which honors the legacy of the civil rights leader and celebrates diversity, is one of the largest events of its kind in the state. More than 500 community leaders and citizens attend annually. A portion of the proceeds benefits the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Scholarship Fund at Benedictine and COD.
